Music healed me this morning.
After a really down day yesterday, I was just… numb.
Very numb.
I haven’t felt like that in a long, long while.
Some of my colleagues could tell that something was wrong. Some felt so sorry for me. I realized that sometimes you don’t even realize how deeply something has affected you until your body just goes numb.
I didn’t cry. I wanted to, but I couldn’t cry. I was Just numb. I knew I was hurting, even though I couldn’t quite put it into words.
And so today, I woke up and decided to start my music challenge… one I had postponed because of the loss of a friend.
I just needed music. And then just like that, somehow, music reached a place that words couldn’t reach.
This just reminded me that healing doesn’t always have to be some big, dramatic thing. Sometimes it’s just a song. Sometimes it’s prayer. Sometimes it’s sleep, silence, solitude, writing, crying, laughter, talking to someone safe, being understood, nature, reading, creating, or simply giving yourself permission to feel what you feel without rushing yourself to be okay.
Different things reach different wounds.
I pray that everyone who is hurting finds their way back to themselves through whatever brings them healing.
Whatever it is.
And the sooner, the better.
Sooner would be nicer.
So today, I’m pressing play.
This doesn’t mean everything is suddenly okay. I’m just allowing something beautiful to meet me where I am… And that’s enough for today.
Just press play. 🎶
