We’re Back

“Mummy I miss this.”

It’s what SonTer said as we walked out the door this morning at 7am.

After 7 long weeks of lawlessness…yeah… that’s what it was.

Road trips, late nights, sleeping in… anything we wanted.

Today we are back to school…new class, new teacher, new books…lots of new things.

The only thing that’s not new is our usual routine…

When I woke Son up this morning, he came to me and said “Mommy I can’t remember what I am supposed to do.”

I reminded him, step by step… Walk your dog, take out the trash, brush your teeth, sort your uniforms, take a bath and so on.

He did his part and I did mine…

We hit the road, singing along to songs from Elevation Worship’s latest album Can You Imagine.

Mornings during the school term…it’s one of the highlights of my life.

One day in the Holiday

Clear skies

My clear skies

What’s a clear sky to you? It depends on the kind of storm you’ve faced or not faced…

I took a bus for my trip back home yesterday.

We passed through some heavy rains on the way.

…then we finally saw a clear sky.

I gladly took a picture and then I relaxed and began to enjoy the trip.

That’s when I started to think of clear skies.

This clear sky was no clear sky, compared to the one I saw days ago…but then, I hadn’t been through any downpour or storms on sunday when I saw that beautiful clear sky.

To me, they were all clear skies, for different reasons.

Sitting in Bars with Cake

When I lived with my Aunty 14 years ago, she observed and stated that “Mimi bakes when she gets depressed”.

I wasn’t sure but many years down the road I found that statement to be true.

I love to try out, tweek and also create my own recipes. I also love the decorative aspects too.

Baking makes me happy…

That’s why I couldn’t wait to see this movie.

It is based on a true story, initially told in a book with same name by Audrey Shulman.

I loved the story… it’s a much deeper story than one about sitting in bars with cakes.

The following details from the movie stayed with me and remain true;

  • Guys love cakes
  • Everyone loves free cake
  • Most things in life are deeper than we present them to be.
  • There are still very genuine friendships out there.

The cup

He looked over my shoulder and said;

“Wow, mommy you are improving”

Yeah. I drew a cup.

My son and I know that I can’t draw.

…but I drew a cup…

That’s a start.

And I plan to fill that cup.

While I wait

Let’s play ‘guess the movie’

I went in early.

We were scheduled to start at 10.

I looked at my watch…it was 9:20.

The guy with the projector looked around… There were a few other early birds like me.

I think he thought we looked bored… He began to play something… a movie…

Something to do while we wait I guess.

It always helps… something to do…while I wait.

For me it’s a number of things…

I could read a book.

Sometimes I write…

…sometimes I remember I’ve got a ton of unopened messages and then I do that… I respond to messages.

Every once in a while I do some People watching .

No matter what, I just make sure I do something…while I wait.

Beats being bored.

What do you do while you wait?

Follow your heart

Sometimes, going with your heart doesn’t have to be a big life decision.

Sometimes it can be very small things that may not seem to matter to anyone at all.

Yesterday, going with my heart just required picking up my plate.

Yeah…

I was at a formal training event…we finished with lunch and we all went to the food stand to get our lunch.

It was packed to go.

A few took theirs home and a good number of us took ours back into the auditorium to eat.

I pulled out my tablet and went to my latest read; Practice Makes perfect by Sarah Adams. I lost myself in it while I ate my lunch.

By the time I was done, I looked up and found that almost everyone had finished and left.

They left their food packs and water bottles on their tables.

I didn’t look right to me. The auditorium was not a dinning room and so I had already made a mental note to take out my trash with me.

I had a little debate within me, should I just leave mine here too? Like everyone else?

I went with my heart.

I took my empty plate and bottle to the trash and went home.

This time

Speak up.

I’m no mind reader.

Say it…the thing you want…

No one will say it for you.

Chew it…that pride…it’s got nothing to offer.

Swallow it, it’s just making the words hard to come out.

Crush it…the anger… forcing itself into a space with no more room.

Still, it’s all up to you

I will wait this one out this time…

Patiently, I wait.

He picked me

While I am praying for the sun because I spread out my laundry, someone is praying for rain because they planted some corn.

Mimi Terver-Bossua

So who should the Lord answer?

Well, tonight he answered me.

I had destroyed Sasha’s old dog house with a plan to make a new one. The entire house was weak and old.

She’s been making do with the small space and shade in my backyard.

Sasha went and shocked me… A couple of days ago she made me a grandma and had herself 5 cute puppies…

Sasha is my son’s dog.

I knew she was expecting but I didn’t think it would be so soon.

I immediately hastened the process for the new dog house

I’m in between work in progress and ready.

Like I said, tonight God answered me.

The clouds were thick and heavy, the wind was wild. It was going to be a big storm.

I ran out with some old floor mats I had in storage and tucked around them and then I closed the area where they lay; mama and her kids

I went back in and wished it wouldn’t get too cold and they’d be just fine.

It stopped raining… Immediately.

I better get that dog house finished for the babies, maybe tomorrow God might need to answer someone else’s prayer for rain.

Hopeful

How are you feeling right now?

What a coincidence; finding this as the prompt of the day.

Conflicted… That’s one of the things I feel right now… Was August good to me? Or was it not?

It wasn’t so bad, but I expected better.

Thankful… It’s another way I’m feeling. I’ve been able to guard my heart and maintain joy in it in spite of a few pitfalls

Hopeful… That September will do me good.

Oh… the break 🙄

Breaks are just crazy

They have a way of messing up a pretty good thing.

Yeah I know this…

…and Ross Geller would agree with me.

If I had an Aston Martin for every time he screemed “we were on a break”, all the Bonds would want to know me.

So, breaks…

I decided to take a break from my Intermittent Fast that had been going great for about seven weeks…

…I’m talking about dropping numbers on the weighing scale, more room in my jeans and less painful knees…

I took a break for my birthday and now… I’m completely lost…

I can’t find my hours….yup, they are lost…

The 16:8 I was so familiar with…no where to be found.

As I write today, seems like there’s hope….

5 days…

I see a ray of hope …

Maybe tomorrow I’ll find my way back…

…from the break
