So, I just finished the movie One Night Only, and for some funny reason, it reminded me of the Before trilogy. There was a lot of talking, and it was funny. I really enjoyed it.
It’s a movie about a time in the United States where there was a mandate for unmarried people to have sex only one day in a year. The movie revolves around two people who keep bumping into each other on the day, and their conversations and experiences that night make them realise that they actually want to be together.
I think what reminded me of the Before trilogy was how much of the movie was built around conversations. Two people talking, sharing thoughts, being funny, and getting to know each other in ways they probably didn’t expect. I feel that soemtimes it’s not even about what people say but what happens between the conversations. The little moments, the unexpected connections, and the gradual realisation that there might be something more between two people.
I don’t want to add any spoilers, but it’s a nice comedy. It’s one of those movies that remind you that sometimes, all you need is an interesting conversation, a little humour, and two people who keep finding their way back to each other.
