I put him on a pedestal
He fell
And I was hurt
But it was not his fault
He was not the one who climbed
It was I
All this time
It was I
Who put him there

I put him on a pedestal
He fell
And I was hurt
But it was not his fault
He was not the one who climbed
It was I
All this time
It was I
Who put him there

I am a baker. I love to bake. I haven’t baked so much in a while, but I’ve been thinking of making more time for home baking and let the bake shop keep running as it has managed for a while.
I am an accountant. I love book keeping. It gives me a different kind of joy I can’t explain.
I am a mother, yeah, one of the best things that happened to me.
I am a wife, a good one at that…yeah I know.
I am a sister. A daughter, an aunty, a friend, a cousin.
I’m every woman.
So if you ask anyone; “who is Mimi Stacey Terver-Bossua”? Their response may be different and may not even be on my list here.
It depends on who you are asking.

I wrote here sometime ago about the problem with ‘too’ and how my mum says I’m always too busy. I remember telling her a couple of weeks ago about how if we were in a more civilised society I may have been taken in to see someone about my over activity.
I’m not too busy… I put it on myself…I am actually busy…
I have taken up too much lately. My home, The bake shop, my office job, a post graduate diploma course.
Taking up more will be completely crazy, so It’s a no no to blogtober for me this year…even though it brings the traffic and daily interactions that I love so much… I’m going to have to say NO.
I don’t have it in me…not this time.
I’m chilling this October.
It’s October 1, it’s just past midnight and I’m contemplating a cup of coffee…maybe I will…maybe I won’t.
And Oh…before I forget… happy 64th Independence celebration dear Nigeria…I believe in you…don’t let me down.

I think I may be one of the biggest fans of a good romantic comedy, in film or in a book.
Some years ago, maybe twenty years, two movies captured my attention, I think may have seen both of them back then at least 10 times each. Over the years I’ve continued to repeat one of them; ‘The Wedding Planner’. The other one is ‘Someone Like You’.
Both of these movies were released in 2001.
Someone Like You is about a lady who is dumbed by her boyfriend, she begins to study the male animal, finding reasons why they act the way they do. She zooms in on her womanizing roommate as a case study. What she doesn’t prepare for, is how things turn out in the end. I think seeing Ashley Judd and Hugh Jackman in those roles also contributed to how much I loved the film.
Last year, I saw a preview of a film adaptation of Karen Kingsbury’s book, ‘Someone Like You’. I have not read the book and I am eager to. I am also eager to jump on the film. I fear I may not read it anymore if I see the film.
The film was released in April,2024. It goes by the same name as the book.
I hope I like it just as much as I liked the older one even though they are not alike. The later is a romance drama while the former is a romance comedy.

As I tried to get into my new phase…being at home by myself and with a little more time on my hands, I made a list of some activities to keep me busy. I went ahead to Pinterest to look for challenges that would keep happy too.
I found one that I really liked…and for the past fifteen days, I have had my alarm set at 11:25am to find and update the challenge for the day. I updated my WhatsApp story daily and it sparked a daily conversation with my cousin, Ngodoo. I loved talking and sharing country music with her these past two weeks.
I would like to share my choices and I hope it sparks an interest in one or two…or more people.
On the 1st day, for a song that reminds me of summer, it was Keith Urban’s Long Hot Summer, there is no way I could have gone with any other song, I remember having that song on repeat a few years ago.
Day 2: A song by your favourite female Artist…I went with Miranda Lambert, The House That Built Me. That song makes me think of the house I grew up in, so many memories and stories.
For day 3, I went with a song that has my hometown written all over it, Dylan Scott captured some of the feelings that I have about Makurdi town in his song; This Town’s Been Too Good To Us
When I got to day 4 I thought I wouldn’t have a song because I couldn’t remembered if I had been to a concert before, then I remembered I was in one myself …over 20 years ago. It was a Christian concert…so I picked My Help by The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir . Not a country song, but I went with it.
Day 5: a song from the 90’s…George Straight – I Cross My Heart
Day 6: a song from my favorite band… Restless Road – On My Way
Day 7: I have no idea why I can’t remember what song I picked on that day, but for today, I will go with Need You Now by Lady Antebellum as a song about a breakup.
Day 8: A song that you can dance to… Walker Hayes’s Fancy Like.
Day 9: A song that is a cover… I had two amazing covers to share… Fast Car by Luke Combs and Someone you loved by Mitchell Tempenny
Day 10: A song from your latest concert… Overdose by OD Woods and Atela.
Day 11: A song about love… Hard To Love by Lee Brice
Day 12: A song that is a karaoke staple – Dirt Road Anthem by Jason Aldean
Day 13: A song from a Texas music artist…George Strait – Carrying Your Love With Me
Day 14: A song that is your favorite of all time…none other but Dierks Bentley’s Black
On the last day, day 15, A song I have on repeat, went with I Thought You Should Know by Morgan Wallen…This song makes me feel so many future feelings. Makes me think about my boy.

Hope you found something to take with you from my list.

Sinking deep in my musings
Thoughts of you are getting confusing
Maybe I’m letting them drown my feelings
…but it’s kind of amusing
As I recall the times we talked
The times we laughed at each other
Some of the times we helped each other
Telling ourselves we would get better
But most of all I remember
It was mostly you
Doing the giving
Talking
And sometimes not even talking
Either way,
You will always be my muse.
Today makes exactly two weeks since I dropped my son off at school.
For the longest period, I have lamented to whoever would listen on how I was going to face a difficult day come September 7th, the day I would drop him off.
The day came and the world did not end like I thought it would.
I remember writing here on how Time passes and things do change and how I learned three good lessons on parenting my son. Things have really changed with and about me… I was shocked with myself.
It wasn’t an easy feat, dropping him off and walking away… especially for the fact that, for eleven years, I had this amazing little human with me almost all the time.
I think everyone thought I would breakdown, I received calls and texts the following week, everyone needed to be sure I was doing okay.
I remember my husband taking quick steps towards my son and I when we held each other in a long embrace and I prayed with him… I know he thought we were weeping…we weren’t.
So when I say things have really changed, it is because, just like everyone expected, I would have cried a river while dropping my kiddo off.
Now here’s why I didn’t…
I pictured my son, trying to go to sleep at night and then his latest memory of his mom would be a sad and weeping woman. How’s that for encouragement and hope?
My home feels empty and I miss him. I’m keeping busy, very busy and my husband… he’s doing so much to make sure I am okay. I am.
Spread your wings SonTer my son, fly…the sky is your limit.
❤️

“wonderful; I reckon we’ll see more posts on this 🙂” John Malone said in a comment on my blog post So far… it looks Good.
I had three plants from my visit to Domitila’s garden.
Two days ago I visited my mom, well, I went there to get a few offshoots from her collection of plants, so I won’t say I actually visited…did I?
I got back home and carefully nestled them in temporary cups.
So, in addition to my four from Domitila, I’m a proud owner of Thirteen babies…😁
Today I noticed a little brightness on the tips of one of the cactus 🌵 and I realized it was growing…that gave me some joy.

I have three cacti, I plan to find some more.
Hey Su’eddie…what do you think?

I wish I could go to a time
Where I could put on beautiful garments
And be waited on
A time
Where I could have a ladies maid
To dress and undress me
Serve me tea, wait on me.
A time where I could have someone come on and announce to me my calllers.
A time where I could weigh and pick
From the callers.
When I could just sit in the study and read
And then walk in the garden and smell the flowers.
I wish

I couldn’t stop staring at it, the bottom cupboard on a photocopier at the bank.
I had seen it yesterday and I thought someone must have made the mess in a hurry and was going to come back and fix it. They probably didn’t want to leave a customer waiting and so they didn’t have time to put the contents back into the cupboard and close it properly.
But I’m here again today and it’s just the same…as untidy as it was yesterday.
I’m tempted to go behind the counter to help them clean up…if only they would let me. It’s a huge mess.
Just when I feel I can’t take the sight of it anymore, I hear the best words ever; “Your transfer is done ma’am, thank you and have a nice day”.
Thank goodness.
