How selfish is self love?
I think it’s been over a year since my sister Angela and I discussed this.
We agreed that some people had taken self love too far and then we worried about how much it deviated from what God intended.
If we love ourselves and ignore the rest of the world then that might be too selfish.
…but sometimes you just have to look out for yourself… You have to care for yourself to be able to care for others.
After all, the greatest commandment is centered around you.
If you don’t love yourself, how can you love your neighbor?
So the question is, where’s the line? And how do you know when you’ve crossed it?
That line that tells you that you are being a little or a lot more selfish that you should.
That line that shows you that you just ignored a neighbor that may have needed you.
I’m literally asking here.

Sometimes we put others ahead of ourselves, which can equally damaging – balance is so important

one of my favourite sayings of the Buddha is ‘if you have compassion for others, but have none for yourself then your compassion is incomplete ‘

I agree, it is so important for the caregivers to care for themselves, and then they are ready to help others

I’m not sure too where to draw the line but lately I know that I’ve been asking myself each time I’m about to get what I believe I want or do what feels good for me with a lot of positive affirmations and subsequently I’ve felt more satisfaction when I decide to do something for someone because now I can tell the difference between doing it out of obligation or fear and doing it because it gives me joy. I hope this helps
