Life in a Year: December 2025

It feels good to make this final post in this series.

When I posted Life in a Year: January 2025 and Derrick commented “This is fun and will be a good series”, I jumped on it. I edited the title to suit the purpose and twelve months later, we have a finale.

December was good.

It began with my second semester examinations for MBA. It went very well.

SonTer came back home for the holidays. We have been catching up and having a lot of fun.

On the last Sunday of the month, I and the spring forth ladies went to church for our yearly thanksgiving and then we went ahead to have a fun brunch afterwards.

Lots of people were home for the holidays so I was able to meet up with a few friends and I also hosted a few of my bake shop alumni… I had a picnic prepared for them and we had so much fun.

One of the highlights was being a godmother for the second time. Amaka’s baby Jasmine went to church and I proudly took her to the altar.

To wrap up the year, we have ditched our home for a two day staycation to unwind and enter the new year.

2025 was good. One word on my heart and my lips; grateful. That’s why the song I’m taking into the new year is Elevation Worship’s – God I’m just grateful.

Life in a Year: November 2025

“I think this may be one of the best days of my life.”   That was November 6th. I had called Terver, my husband, at about 2:15pm, to inform him that I had returned from my trip and I was headed home. He asked how the trip went, and that was my response. He didn’t get my reason, I wonder if anyone else will.

The two most therapeutic things for me are driving and music. Put them together, and I am in another realm. Almost all of the time, when I get excited about driving alone and listening to music, I usually have someone or people with me. It’s fine when these people are also lovers of music. It’s so not fine when they are talkers and won’t let even one song flow.

On that beautiful day, the 6th of November,  I left Abuja a little after 9 am… alone. I was in no hurry. I spent five hours with myself. I made two pit stops. One stop to refuel and stock up on some yogurt Terver loves, and then the next stop to pick some wild flowers.

By the time the trip ended, I felt refreshed and light… and happy.

So, even if  November didn’t happen to be awesome, that day would have been just enough good for the whole month. But November was great.

On the 1st, we went to visit SonTer… our one and only visit allowed per term. He was fine.

The next day, I received some books I had ordered. I will start reading them in January… that’s the plan.

I read The Great Gatsby, and I loved it.

I attended two weddings. Both were really beautiful.

I started a learning challenge. Every day, on my whatsapp story, I put up two words and try to explain the difference between them. I got the idea when I stumbled upon a platform called comparelingo. On the platform, they try to teach basic English via comparison of two words. I plan to run the challenge until the 31st of December.  I am glad to say that it has been fun and I have people who are interested.

November was good.

Life in a Year: October 2025

October wasn’t bad. The first half of it was easy.

The second half of the month however wasnt as easygoing.

During the easy part of the month of October, I enjoyed some good books and movies. The movie I enjoyed most was Play Dirty, starring Lakieth Stanfield and Mark Wahlberg. I enjoyed some good music too and found a new song that I fell in love with… Featherstone by The Paper Kites.

I also spent some time with Amaka and her baby, Ehi. I enjoyed watching her in this motherhood role.

Things began to escalate on the 16th. My mom had a follow-up doctors appointment, and so we hit the road, along with my older sister, who had been visiting. I drove us from makurdi to Abuja for this appointment.

I killed two birds with one stone. I took the opportunity to see a doctor and get a full medical checkup. I am glad I did.

My mom and I returned to base after four days. I was able to catch up with an alumni meeting that i enjoyed very much, and then the hectic work week started.

Work became so hectic.  I had to work six days instead of five for two weeks. By the time PMS decided to hit me, I found myself crying on one of the days…at work. Hmmmm.

I wasn’t able to unwind on most nights, but I was able to squeeze time in for Colleen Hoover’s Reminders of Him, and I am glad because it was worth it.

Life in a Year: September 2025

September was a roller coaster ride.

A lot happened.

I started the month with a night of painting with SonTer and my husband’s cousin. It was the first day of the month and a Monday.

The week went well and next thing I know, it’s Saturday and I’m in church with the twins as documented in New Role.

The next day I took off on a road trip to the Nation’s capital, Abuja, with SonTer and Kator. I was to attend a workshop and SonTer was going to spend some time with his cousins.

By Wednesday the 10th, just before I hit the road for my trip back home, I stopped by my friend Nguwa’s place to share a plate of salad that I had actually received from another friend, Ronnie. I just wanted to share the love…smiles.

I got back to find my mom in bad health. I stayed with her overnight and while I wondered what to do in Mother, my sisters and I came up with a solution. I’m happy to say that mom is a lot better today.

Too many other things happened in September…SonTer went back to school to begin a new session…grade 8, I found myself closing late from work on several days, the sunset is on one of those days, I read a little and wrote a little.

The highlight of the month was on Friday the 19th when I joined in virtually for the annual women’s conference at Elevation Church. This conference called ‘Reflect’ by Holly Furtick is aimed at helping women to take time away and reflect and revive themselves. It is all anchored in the word of God.

September was good.

Life in a Year: May 2025

Beautiful May

May was a good month.

I went to visit an ex student of my bakery who had twins. I felt so blessed because this was the second set I was holding in the year…from one my ex students.

I binged a Netflix series titled Black Doves… I will share a review sometime.

I got hooked on the police drama ‘The Rookie’. Starting Season Two tomorrow.

I took an obscene number of selfies. Literally every morning.

My dear Auntie Ben had a birthday and so I took her cake and 5 novels on behalf of her kids, they live far away… I gave a journal and pen to keep her busy in her new age.

I started a 7 Day challenge with a few young people. The challenge titled ‘Self and Story’ is geared towards growth and self development.

I read books, I drank lots of herbal tea, I watched my new plant grow.

I lived, I loved, I laughed.

Life in a Year: February 2025

I started Gilmore Girls again sometime last year and finally rounded it up with the last production titled ‘Gilmore Girls: Life in a Year’. It caught us up with what had been going on in everyone’s life since we last saw them. The show was broken down into four parts; winter, spring, summer and Fall.

I decided to steal the title and tell mine in months.

Plus, one of my readers thought it would be “fun and a good series” and I agreed and loved the idea.

So here’s what February looked like:

A month full of Birthdays

February was good, my dad turned 79 on the 4th, my mum followed on the 12th as she clocked 78 years old.

My husband had a birthday too on the 26th and My sister Angie continued her 50s journey on the 9th. Ngodoo, my cousin marked hers on the 22nd.

Other activities:

I continued to grow my tree on the Glorify Bible app. I also carried with me Isaiah 30:21.

I finally finished the book ‘The things we leave Unfinished’ and I was shocked with the twist at the end.

SonTer’s dog had puppies last month, but I was only able to photograph them this month so I featured them in the month of February.

I travelled for work for a few days in the same city I had served as a Youth Corp member and I realized that coincidentally, it was the first time I had lived alone back then in 2007 and this was the first time I would be away from home alone again. 18 years later.

I won a Bluetooth speaker and mini printer from Temu, I received a commendation letter at work and I sat on a panel and we discussed ‘The Art of The Heart’ at the Benue Book & Arts Festival organized by Su’eddie Agema.

I was able to surprise a friend with some gifts and she reciprocated with more than I could have even imagined. I am grateful to my sister Dough who served as our courier to Kenya and back to Nigeria.

I visited Mrs. Yawe, a teacher from my nursery and primary school.

I enjoyed a study with my egroup titled ‘Good Company’. I think I will share this gist in another piece.

I celebrated with my immediate older sister Msugh, she’s making a new turn in her life’s journey and I’m so excited.

I started my final exams for my Post Graduate Diploma and to my great joy, I wasn’t as nervous as I was in the previous semester.

I lived, I laughed and I loved.

Looking back at what January looked like;

Life in a Year: January 2025

See you in March
