Angels Don’t always have wings

Tracy Chapman – Heaven’s here on Earth

When my son prays, especially during bedtime prayers, he often asks God to bless every good person in our lives.

I think good people really need that; people who pray for them.

I needed to know what his idea of ‘good person’ was and so I asked him. SonTer told me that to him, a good person is someone who always helps others.

I think good people are Angels on earth. People who are there for us when we need them, especially in the most unexpected times and places. Good people are big on empathy and kindness.

It’s the reason I am a huge lover of random acts of kindness. It meets the receiver in an unexpected and beautiful place.

Even before I heard Thomas Rhett say it in his song ‘Angels’, I’ve always agreed with myself and known deep down that Angels don’t always have wings and halos.

I’ve met a few Angels of my own but I also hope I’ve been one to someone or to as many who needed me.

May we all meet Angels as we go about our way and may we be same to others.

The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart

I was reading John Malone’s Belonging

When I found it

It was Just like John said; “lyrical and romantic”

It was worth every page

Poetic lines in every chapter

Flowing like a beautiful river.

So after enjoying the written words

I only hope I’m not about to ruin it

With the Amazon TV series based on the story

Just like I did

With ‘Little Fires Everywhere’

Oh… I didn’t know that

‘When I’m stressed I change the bedding. I’ve been doing it since I was a kid”

That was the response Mel gave Jack when he was wondering why she changed freshly changed sheets.

Jack and Mel live together and have been a couple for a few years.

It’s possible to not know everything about someone, no matter how close you are to someone or how long we’ve known a person.

Mel and Jack are characters from the Netflix Romance television series Virgin River

Are we odd?

In the ‘Pool Party’ episode of the Office, Jim refers to himself as The Master of leaving parties early.

He says there’s a key, which is; “To Make A Strong Impression”.

He lists the ‘how to’ as

  • Make sure you get your picture taken.
  • Say a peculiar non sequitur that people will remember…this is so Jim.
  • Make sure you note something unique, a talking point for later…(even another day).

He brags that he was home by 9pm on New Years Eve.

I must admit that I’ve tried it a couple of times and it works.

Sometimes I just want to go back home before the party ends.

Harrison Ford

Ford

My attention was called to the 1985 movie ‘Witness’ by Brian from the post below:

I enjoyed every minute of it.

Harrison Ford is an amazing actor.

His latest piece – ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ was intriguing… I almost didn’t see it, I thought I wouldn’t like it. I kept wondering if the Indiana Jones franchise had been over stretched.

He definitely is one of the actors who have stood the The test of time.

Describe a family member.

Funny

Even without knowing

Naughty

Because of his “last born child” traits

Lyrical

Because he’s in the choir

Witty

Because he was born that way

Serious

Because he carries the alphabets ‘esq’ beside his name

Mature

Because of what he has experienced

Cousin

My mom’s brother’s son

Yesterday

For certain reasons, I didn’t have the desire to do any peopling.

So I sent an excuse to a group I had been scheduled to meet with.

If only I could have been guaranteed that I could walk in with a sign on my forehead that read “Having a rough day”

and I would be excused from all interaction…

Just like the one Beth wrote about yesterday.

I wasn’t certain I could…

So instead, I stayed home and continued to read one of John Malone’s recommendations;

The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart

Perry

I saw you, screen after screen…it seemed like you could take any chance to be 17 Again.

For some time it seemed all you wanted was your Friends.

Sometimes it seemed like you wanted to fly…like the Birds of America.

And yet sometimes you looked like you were Numb.

You never got hitched. I wonder if maybe you thought that only Fools Rush In or maybe you didn’t want to be The Odd Couple.

I thought the fight was over with The End of Longing…

But seems you have gone The Whole Nine Yards or maybe even Ten.

Only recently you were at The Reunion, I’m glad you stayed to be a part of it.

Wherever you are, just know that to me, you will always be Mr Sunshine

Personal touch

When I decided to cut back on my social media and mobile phone time, I took another decision…

I decided to reach out to people personally, let them know and feel that I actually thought about them.

Especially on their birthdays

I didn’t like close friends thinking I wished them a happy birthday on social media because I was reminded and prompted by an app.

It’s been a tough 2 years. I found out that a good number of people preferred to get the public wishes and displays of affection.

…but I’ve stuck to my choices…and I’ve built some good friendships and conversations with the intentional personal touch.

I’m not going back.
