This evening, I saw a meme on one of my friends’ WhatsApp stories, and it read:
“Maybe the point isn’t to always be extraordinary. Maybe the point is to sit in a cafe, laugh with a friend, walk home, listen to music, sleep. Maybe the point is just to live this small and beautiful life while we have it.”
I responded to her, saying, “I think I’ve given up explaining that to people.”
I think the little things listed in that meme I saw on her status are what make some of us happy.
And that brings me to my topic.
I think we overlook many things around us that make us happy. We do this when we go about chasing things, and in the end, those things we chase don’t even end up making us happy.
Are we overlooking things around us that make a beautiful life? Are we waiting for something big to happen? What about our small, everyday moments? What if those are the things that could actually make us happy… if we could just pause and recognise them?
What if some of the happiness we’re searching for is already part of our lives?

This is such a nice post of the great helpful thoughts from you and your friend, Mimi!

So true and important. FabGirl (my wife) and I often sit on the back porch enjoying the sun, rain, birds, flowers, butterflies, et al; and we take inventory of the things that we love about our life – currently and memories of the things we’ve done, places we’ve been, people we have known and loved over the years.
