Today makes exactly two weeks since I dropped my son off at school.
For the longest period, I have lamented to whoever would listen on how I was going to face a difficult day come September 7th, the day I would drop him off.
The day came and the world did not end like I thought it would.
I remember writing here on how Time passes and things do change and how I learned three good lessons on parenting my son. Things have really changed with and about me… I was shocked with myself.
It wasn’t an easy feat, dropping him off and walking away… especially for the fact that, for eleven years, I had this amazing little human with me almost all the time.
I think everyone thought I would breakdown, I received calls and texts the following week, everyone needed to be sure I was doing okay.
I remember my husband taking quick steps towards my son and I when we held each other in a long embrace and I prayed with him… I know he thought we were weeping…we weren’t.
So when I say things have really changed, it is because, just like everyone expected, I would have cried a river while dropping my kiddo off.
Now here’s why I didn’t…
I pictured my son, trying to go to sleep at night and then his latest memory of his mom would be a sad and weeping woman. How’s that for encouragement and hope?
My home feels empty and I miss him. I’m keeping busy, very busy and my husband… he’s doing so much to make sure I am okay. I am.
Spread your wings SonTer my son, fly…the sky is your limit.
❤️

You will let him fly with your love on board

Our children generally do better when we let them.
You’re doing good.

It’s best to let kids go on their own journey but I can imagine that’s it’s very difficult as a parent. However, I’m sure you’ll get used to it over time and he’ll enjoy himself at school.

It’s a difficult time when dropping off your child, then they go for a while without you. I agree with John’s comment that you showed a lot of resilience in how you reacted on the day of the drop-off. And I really like how you ended this post, the encouragement to your son. Our kids will truly soar. And when they come back to see us, they can talk about the adventures they’ve had. 🌞
