I went in early.
We were scheduled to start at 10.
I looked at my watch…it was 9:20.
The guy with the projector looked around… There were a few other early birds like me.
I think he thought we looked bored… He began to play something… a movie…
Something to do while we wait I guess.
It always helps… something to do…while I wait.
For me it’s a number of things…
I could read a book.
Sometimes I write…
…sometimes I remember I’ve got a ton of unopened messages and then I do that… I respond to messages.
Every once in a while I do some People watching .
No matter what, I just make sure I do something…while I wait.
Beats being bored.
What do you do while you wait?

usually talk to someone near me or catch up on emails/messages

Amazing.
I am usually not sure of the reception I would get…it’s actually nice talking to people.

Sometimes I meditate. Sometimes, unfortunately, I drop into the rabbit hole of my phone.

I’m still yearning to learn the art of meditation. Any tips?

Thanks for asking! The “rules” for meditation (to the extent that there are any rules at all) are very easy to learn. I got a lot out of Mingyur Rinpoche’s YouTube channel when I was starting out– https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhd_XUVmQf8
And I also got a lot out of Dan Harris’s delightful book “10% Happier.” However, there are a million good meditation teachers out there–Tara Brach, Pema Chodron, Jack Kornfield, Jon Kabat-Zinn are a few names off the top of my head. You definitely don’t need a teacher, but having a meditation guide that you click with can really help. I wish you the best on your meditation journey!

I take a notebook with me wherever I go which may involve waiting; I also scroll through my phone at Google feed; and yes, I people watch too:)
