It is very unusual of me to be up at 7am on a Saturday morning. I usually sleep in till 9am. Saturdays are the only days that I can enjoy that luxury.
On Monday to Friday I am usually out of the house before 7:30am…and even though Sunday mornings are presumably easy, it’s not as easy as my Saturdays.
Ever since flowers began to show up this year, I have found myself admiring a lot of the wild ones I usually see on my way out in the mornings. Wild flowers are one of the reasons I long for my Nigerian spring.
Last Monday I decided that I would take a walk on Saturday to pick a few…and that’s why I was up at 7am.
I woke my son up to join me for the walk… He didn’t think he would like it. So I went alone.
It was a beautiful walk. I found different kind. A few looked like crocuses. They were everywhere and in different colours.
When I was done picking, I walked back quickly to put a bouquet together. I loved the outcome.
I’m sitting in my living room, looking at my bouquet and enjoying a cup of coffee while I write.

Oh…my son thinks I should have made him go for that walk. We have a date for next Saturday.

Damn, your bouquet of flowers is firee, I love the combo

Reminds me of days growing up. Flowers were a common denominator that we barely thought much about it. From the hibiscus to the queen of the night and much more, we did flowery things without a blink. These days I find myself not much of a deliberate plant person in terms of growing but gosh, one thing I have learnt to do, is stop and deliberately go down to a flower and take in its beautiful scent. Indeed, we have to learn to stop and smell the flowers while we can for life flies by too fast.
Happy Saturday, sis.

You are right. Flowers were a common denominator and we barely thought much about it.
I see Msugh and Angela buying flowers and I realise they are more intentional about flowers than I am.
Maybe I love seeing them wild and free 😁
Life really flies by fast, we got to learn to stop and smell the flowers while we can.
Much love

True talk! They buy flowers? They should share pictures and talk about them more na.
Gosh! You wouldn’t believe how the mind works. On Saturday evening, I found myself restless and longing for a walk. Fortunately, darkness comes late in summer so I had time on my hand. I took a long walk to the woods and found myself just being in tune with the trees and plants. I started taking pictures, identifying them with an app and then taking a walk back home while doing same. In all, I must have been gone for about 2 or more hours, seemingly unplanned. I had to ask myself later why I was so fascinated and in tune with these plants, flowers and nature? Now, I see that you had somehow sown a seed that I forgot but which remained in my subconscious. IT flowered and led me to a fine evening. Amazing what our words can do, how they can engineer things without us even knowing. The more reason why we should be careful what we share, right?

You are so right. Words shared are seeds.
We don’t even know.
I’m so thrilled by your walk. I am here, wishing I had that walk.
I love “IT flowered and led me to a fine evening”

Angom, life is mysterious… And the power of words such as we cannot comprehend. The reason why we are told that the power of life and death is in the tongue – or more precisely, our words.
Sad that the woods have become strangers to me, time being somewhat unkind these days, despite it still being summer. Commitments here and there. I was talking to Dr Agema about this only yesterday. How I need to find myself again. Through these things. In the end, life is short and we must make time for things that matter lest we come to our end and ask ourselves: what did we spend it all doing?
Cheers to you, sis dearest, and to the many wondrous creations you are responsible for.

I hope you find yourself and the woods again.
I’ve been in the process of finding myself all over again and it’s been amazing… What with the reminders of my old post here on WordPress and the leaving of my former boss… I dare say, life has been good.
Give my love to Dr. Agema and the girls.

that is so beautiful: I admire people who work wonders with their hands; I enjoyed the tale too: the 7a.m start was sure worth it 🙂
