Love and Thunder

Unlike the many other movies that I have had to wait for, I didn’t get to see Thor: Love and Thunder till late September 2022. I still don’t know how someone can wait for a thing and then not bother any more when it finally shows up. Maybe something in my spirit knew I was going to get heart broken and honestly, that wasn’t the best time for me to get a broken heart.

Besides the fact that I hate that Jane died, I think it’s a good movie. Thor comes off as funny and nonchalant and so the humour makes all the hurt a bit bearable.

I hate that Jane died. I am a fan of lost and found love. Maybe that’s what has kept me glued to some of the most cliché love stories on television and novels. I always believed Thor and Jane would find each other and get back together and live happily ever after. Well, she died; I guess I just have to live with that.

The lesson I learnt from the movie was from Love’s father; Gorr the god butcher. Even though he was portrayed as the villain in the movie, it was clear to me he was no bad guy. Everything he did was from a driving force; Love. We see that in the end, it is the same love that allows him to make his last decision. The movie is definitely more complicated than I have made it and you must watch to come to your own conclusions.

Despite what 1 Corinthians 13 may say, some people do some really crazy stuff in the name of love and for love. I guess that is what makes the Biblical love a lot different from every other kind. Still, the bottom line remains, love is the greatest of all emotions and it can lead us to the best and the worst decisions of our lives.

I recommend that as we guard our hearts diligently, we must guide our love so too.
