Last week, my cousin Su’eddie sent us a message on the One Big Family WhatsApp group chat. Before this message, I had gotten wind of the fact that he was coming to visit Nigeria from the UK, and it turns out that the week he was to land, his daughter, his second daughter, was celebrating her 4th birthday as well.
So he used the opportunity to try to get a get-together with the OBF Abuja branch. And since I am not in Abuja, I am not in the OBF Abuja branch; I’m in the OBF Makurdi branch. But it is so much fun to be a part of the OBF Abuja branch because almost all of us are there. Almost.
There’s an OBF UK branch, but they are not more than 14 or so, just like we in Makurdi. But the OBF Abuja branch is packed and fun.

So I was going to surprise them… because Abuja is just about three hours plus drive away from Makurdi. I was going to take off first thing in the morning and then surprise them at the parks and gardens where the get-together slash birthday party for the birthday girl was going to take place today.
Unfortunately for me, on Wednesday, I got a call from my Son’s school, and he had a sprain playing basketball and needed medical attention. And that medical attention has dragged into Saturday, and I was not able to make it.
But as I look at the WhatsApp family group today, as the photos keep dropping in and the videos too… I see them at day’s activities, and I feel so much joy and peace.
OBF is a community I’m very, very happy to be a part of, and I’m so happy that they had that much fun together. Seeing in the pictures that even the generation of our parents… two of them, turned up made the whole thing colourful and beautiful.

And in the middle of it, Henry had to pop up on a video call from Port Harcourt so that some of us could be part of it.
But all in all, I’m so thankful because this is a very beautiful day, and while they were happy, I turned out to feel so happy.
So I think this is my submission for my happiness challenge. Today, I’m happy OBF got to have a hangout and enjoy themselves as a welcome to Eddie for his visit.
