Just Do It

This is an excerpt from my first medium post on 20th May, 2022

I love to write

I recently had a friend of mine tell me “you don’t write like you talk”. She had just read a post from my WordPress blog and was having a hard time reconciling my written words with my spoken words. I totally understood her dilemma.

I have never been much of a good talker. I talk okay, but I can say anyone would understand something I wrote better than if I spoke it. It is the reason I miss those letter writing days. My sister and I have good memories of letters we wrote each other.

These days I always carry a small notebook with me. I scribble lots of my thoughts and ideas in them. You could also find a few scribbles on my phone as well. I have lots of them.

I thought it would be nice to share my thoughts and ideas and so I went ahead and got myself a WordPress page. I didn’t post a word until 11 months ago. Just like that, I woke up one day and decided; This is the day. It felt really good to see people read, like and also leave reviews. It made me happy.

Today WordPress sent me a 9th anniversary message. How does someone procrastinate for 8 years? I really wonder.

A piece of advice I gave myself:

“Mimi sometimes you don’t need to procrastinate, you don’t have to plan, you don’t have to rehearse… Just do it”.

Why I love The Queen Charlotte Story

I learned a new trick some time ago fron a movie where a girl was asked to write a paper on the story ‘The Frog Prince‘ but from the frog’s perspective.

Ever since then, I unconsciously find myself doing so about many situations; I tend to make out what the other party’s version of a story could be…

I found that I had been curious about Lady Violet Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte from the Bridgerton series . So I was really thrilled to see a diversion from everyone’s expectations…Every viewer has been waiting for the third season. This was meant to focus on Benedict Bridgerton.

The first thing I love about this spin off is how it gives me a chance to see how Charlotte and also Lady Danbury were also human. I no longer see them as insensitive match making old women. 😁

Another thing I love is having to see more of Lady Violet. Her face makes me smile. She’s so sweet and calm. She reminds me of someone; Ogonye.

Finally, I love that I had to pause and do an actual study on the lives of the real Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and George III (George William Frederick). It gave me an opportunity to learn a bit of history. I get excited when I learn something new.

There are a few things I do not like about the story… I’ll share that some other time

I suddenly realised there was no introductory blog here…none.

I just love to put thoughts into written words. I express myself better in writing.

If I think it, I may write it. If I write it, I may publish it

Today it may be my love for music, tomorrow it may be God’s love for me and the next day it may be my love for Him. Another day it may be my impatience with humanity, another day it may be my appreciation for one human or the other.

As I write this late post, I have successfully published 100 posts and this is 101. I peeked into my drafts and found 87 items. I wonder if they will all become publishable posts.

Most of what makes it to my drafts are random thoughts that pop up while I do dishes, clean up the home, drive or from random things that happen around me. I often pause to note them down so that I don’t get to forget.

When they read, I hope readers get the same peace and satisfaction I get when I write.
